Unpopular Request: Change the quest item location drops

It seems that many key quest items drop in the exact same ports as previous rounds. It's too late for this round, but can we have these changed up for upcoming rounds?

There is a certain excitement when finding a quest item for the first time in a round and carefully deciding who you should share the secret information with or keeping the info to yourself. Especially for the quests that need multiple different items, it's become almost mechanical after the items start appearing to just go to the same ports they were dropping in previous rounds.

I feel that this change may be unpopular for those that use this information to have an advantage in new rounds, but would level the playing field for new players. It would also be a small change that could keep the game feeling "fresh" after each round.

Hell, lets have utter confusion and have items drop in random ports every map reset…..never the same one twice in a row….that should make for an interesting quest completion rate…..Yeah, Yeah thats the ticket!! :D

I seem to have forgotten the tags….<sarcasm on>…..</sarcasm off>

I think random drops every reset may be too chaotic. Just new ports for quest items each round could be a simple change for Hagar to make and also prevent it from feeling like a continuation from previous rounds. Navigator quest is a perfect example where we just mechanically go to the same ports in the same order.

I like Boogie's idea
It's perfect for the less active pirates...make everything move in every reset so we no longer have to maintain item location lists and just stay in one port and wait for the item to come to us, randomly.....

Might I suggest that you stop looking at last round's item location list?

I think Boogie was being facetious, but it not a bad idea! Like an Easter egg hunt every time you go to find an item.

maybe make Nassau be random stuff every reset and see how it goes from there.

But I would like more items to drop in new ports each round.

It was announced that this round, items would shuffle around occasionally. I had meant for this to be automated, but it's hard to get the right balance of items in each port.

I'm about to start doing it manually. Probably one item every few days.

Personally, I feel that randomizing the quest item locations every reset creates added unnecessary difficulty to the game especially for the lower level pirates. It takes forever to find all of the parts needed for a quest when we know their locations. Even at level 200, I can only clear a quarter of the map in one location per reset, let alone go to multiple locations during one reset and try to clear them. Just when I think I have found an item's location, now it's going to change at the next reset? That just adds to the frustration of the game.

I get changing the item locations from round to round. That adds a little sport to the game for some. But, not every reset.

Just looking at the votes for this, it seems the majority of players don't like the idea. Maybe I’m missing something.

I agree with Mui.

It would be ok to change the ports of parts each round BUT NOT more often.

It would be nice if more parts fell in multiple ports more often so it would speed up completion of quests for those that can only play part-time.

It would stink if they changed every reset because you could never get any traction on completing quests. It would be like go to a port and see what might show up this map. Ugh.

Thanks BayGal for stepping up and stating the truth. We are always talking about how to keep and get new players. It's already a steep learning curve for new players. Let's not make it harder for them. Maybe the hard core players wouldn't get so bored if there were more new quests to solve.
