Do away with knotted strings!

Frankly, when many players have every brig key and once they have a tankard, then only lots of playing time is the difference between the winners and the less fortunate.

I'm not sure which round had them go constant at 22 incense from Cibola.

This number could be reduced and/or bring back random crate sizes.

The amount of incense was changed because of all the work and sailing time to get it.

Reducing the number of strings would be a better choice than the amount of incense.

Lowering the number does not help the play for fun Pirates. It would be a bigger disappointment to punish the rest of the players. The top 10 are going to still be the top 10 even if strings ect were removed.

Nothing but time and/or money will change the overall results.

The top pirates are going to find the most items. It's the time they put in the game. Then add in the friendship they make with other Pirates, ones willing to help, sell or trade items they find. Many times, the top Pirates help out the other players just here to have fun.
